1.Cleaning
Remove Dirt and Dust: Use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt or dust from the surface of the shoes. Make sure to get into the creases and seams.
Wipe with a Damp Cloth: Lightly dampen a cloth with water and gently wipe down the shoes to remove any remaining dirt. Avoid soaking the leather.
Use a Leather Cleaner: Apply a small amount of leather cleaner to a clean cloth and rub it into the leather using circular motions. This helps to remove deeper dirt and stains. Wipe off any excess cleaner with a dry cloth.
2. Conditioning
Apply Leather Conditioner: Use a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and supple. Apply a small amount to a cloth and work it into the leather in circular motions. Allow the conditioner to absorb into the leather for a few minutes.
Buff with a Soft Cloth: After the conditioner has been absorbed, buff the shoes with a soft cloth to remove any excess product and bring out the shine.
3. Polishing
Choose the Right Polish: Select a polish that matches the color of your shoes. Cream polishes are good for nourishing the leather, while wax polishes add more shine and protection.
Apply Polish: Use a soft cloth or applicator brush to apply a thin layer of polish to the shoes. Work the polish into the leather using circular motions.
Allow to Dry: Let the polish dry for about 10-15 minutes.
Buff to a Shine: Use a soft brush or cloth to buff the shoes to a high shine. This not only enhances the appearance but also adds a layer of protection.
4. Protecting
Waterproofing: Apply a waterproofing spray designed for leather to protect against moisture and stains. Follow the instructions on the product label for the best results.
Use Shoe Trees: Insert shoe trees to maintain the shape of the shoes and to absorb moisture from the interior.
5. Storing
Keep in a Cool, Dry Place: Store your leather shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Use Shoe Bags: When storing shoes for a long period, keep them in breathable shoe bags to prevent dust accumulation.
